Congratulation Michelle Lee for Winning Bronze at the World Championships

LIMA, Peru (September 29, 2016) – The 10th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships got underway in Lima, Peru on September 29 with the world’s best athletes from seven divisions across five age categories competing for gold.

Markham Taekwondo Academy had 8 athletes that represented Canada at the World Championship. They did amazing, but most importantly, everyone gained a lot of experience at the world stage, learning from teamates and fellow competitors from other countries, and making  friends from across the globe.

Results:

  • Michelle Lee – Bronze Medalist at U17 Individual Female Freestyle.
  • Anton Carreon – Top 13 in Cadet Individual Male Recognized Poosmae
  • Mellisa Lam – Top 6 in Cadet Female Team Recognized Poomsae
  • Master Kevin Cheng – Top 8 in Freestyle Pairs O17
  • Sidney Yau, Calvin Chan, Michelle Lam, Michelle Lee – Top 5 Freestyle Team U17
  • Edmund Lui – competed his first World Championship representing Team Canada

Markham Taekwondo Academy is very proud of all their athletes and happy that the students gained so much from this once in a life time experience. This is a great achievement for Michelle Lee but also for Markham Taekwondo Academy, achieving Bronze at the 10th World Championships.

We will continue to strive for better performance in the upcoming years and prepare for the Next World Championships in 2018.
