Congratulations to MTA Students at Black Belt Challenge + KPNP Open

Last Family Day Long Weekend February 18-19 at the Markham Pan Am Centre, MTA students competed at the two tournament hosted by the Ontario Taekwondo Association.

Our Colour Belt and Development Team Competitors competed at the KPNP Open, while our Black Belts competed at the Black Belt Challenge for Provincial Ranking Points. This game marked the beginning of the new season.

We are very proud of the performance and results of MTA students. We would like to recognize two of our student’s performance at the Black Belt Challenge.

It is a great start for our HP Sparring Team Ian Chan & Sneha Ramachandran, who set the pace winning GOLD and BRONZE respectively.

Ian took home the Gold medal at -61kg Cadet Sparring Division. This is Ian’s 4th Gold medal in a row which leave him undefeated in all Provincial Games since last year. Ian had started High Performance 5 years ago, in the beginning he endured many hardship and suffered many defeats for 4 years. Starting last year Ian’s perseverance finally paid off and he became Provincial Champion. Not only that, He also took the Gold at Ontario Summer Games and Gold at US President Cup at Oregon, Portland. Ian’s perseverance and passion for Taekwondo set a great model for our younger students.

Sneha has also competed past weekend in one of the most competitive division. She placed 3rd among 9 athletes in – 55kg cadet division.
